Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is released from hospital and resumes duties

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was released from the hospital Tuesday after he was admitted to a critical care unit at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center this week following hospitalization for a bladder issue.

The Defense Department said in a news release that Austin was released from the hospital in Washington in consultation with medical staff members at about 3:30 pm ET. Austin resumed his full duties at 5 pm and will work from home as he recovers, the Pentagon said.

He is expected to return to work in person later this week.

Osprey aircraft resumes flights at US base in Okinawa

An Osprey transport aircraft has resumed flights at a US base in Japan’s southern prefecture of Okinawa for the first time since they were grounded after a deadly crash last November.

US forces and Japan’s Ground Self-Defense Force grounded their fleet of Ospreys after one of the tilt-rotor aircraft crashed off the southwestern prefecture of Kagoshima, killing all eight US military personnel on board.

Japan’s Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday that the aircraft would resume flights in Japan in phases from Thursday, after maintenance and crew training were completed.

Haiti’s Sunrise Airways said it will resume flights to Miami this week

MIAMI – Haiti’s Sunrise Airways, which launched services to Miami International Airport last October, said it will resume operations on Monday.

The airline said they will operate flights three days this week out of Cap-Haïtien, a city north of Port-au-Prince.

Those with US green cards, Haitian nationals, and others with proper documents can take advantage to get out of Haiti which is plagued by gang violence and unrest.
