San Diego mom Allison LaGasse said she built a career in the communications industry after seeing her own parents thrive in the field. Today, she is now the same role model for her own children.

LaGasse is the e-commerce marketing manager of Plum Paper, a fully customizable planner company offering more than 100 personalizations. In its 14th year, the Vista business is led by a team of women who create well-designed, unique products for the unique people using them.

LaGasse oversees all e-commerce advertising initiatives and leads her team in developing digital strategies for scaling customer growth.

“I grew up seeing my parents both have success in communications, so I’ve always had the drive to forge my own path in the industry,” LaGasse said. “I’m a people person and passionate about finding ways to help others–and determining what they’re looking for through effective marketing.”

LaGasse said he knew he wanted to work for Plum Paper when he discovered the business.

“I knew [Plum Paper] would provide me with a dynamic working environment where I could help shape the company’s vision for accelerated growth,” LaGasse said. “The versatility of this role also means I get to express my creative and analytical side, as well as thrive in an ever-changing landscape where no two days are the same.”

One of the aspects she loves most about Plum Paper is its ability to balance her life as a mother of two boys and her career.

“Balancing the responsibilities of being a parent with my role at Plum Paper is definitely important to me,” LaGasse said. “I prioritize tasks and set realistic goals both at work and at home. This involves using tools like my custom planner and digital calendars to stay organized and keep track of deadlines and commitments. Working for a family-first organization makes establishing this balance attainable and allows me to feel fulfilled as a working mom.”

LaGasse said she encouraged other parents to communicate their needs in their own lives and careers.

“I believe in setting clear boundaries and utilizing time management strategies to ensure that I can fulfill both roles effectively,” LaGasse said. “I make sure to communicate with my colleagues about my schedule and any potential conflicts well in advance, ensuring that I don’t miss out on my kids’ school activities and important family events.”
